Your first video in 15 minutes

This is the short path. It skips almost every setting, because the defaults are good and you can come back for them. By the end you’ll have a script you wrote, a take you recorded, and a video you can post.

  1. Go to Scripts → Generate. You have five ways in:

    • Paste a URL and Editory scrapes the article
    • Write or paste the text yourself
    • Upload a PDF, DOCX or TXT
    • Pick something already in your library
    • Describe the story and let Editory draft it — no article needed

Then pick a persona. Conversational Storyteller at 60 seconds is the safest first choice; it sounds like a person rather than a press release.

Generation takes a few seconds. You’ll land in an editing chat.

  2. Don’t rewrite the script by hand. Tell the chat what’s wrong:

Make the opening punchier and cut the second paragraph.

Lose the jargon in the middle — my audience isn’t in the industry.

This is 20 seconds too long.

Every revision is kept, so you can always undo back to a version you liked. When the words are right, you’re done with this step — the script is saved automatically.

  3. Hit Record on the script. The teleprompter opens in your browser with your script already loaded.

Two things worth doing before you hit record:

    • Set the scroll speed to match how you actually talk. Too fast is the single most common reason a first take is unusable.
    • Use the eye-level guide to line the camera up with your eyes. It’s the difference between “talking to me” and “reading something”.

Record as many takes as you like — they stay on your machine until you pick one.

  4. You can go through the full wizard, but for a first video pick a layout template from the dashboard instead. The template already answers aspect ratio, clip count, b-roll cadence and where graphics go, so the flow is four steps instead of seven.

    Template Use it when
Split Screen You want footage and yourself on screen the whole time
Cut-In You’re the story; footage appears only when you name something
Rotoscoped Speaker You want to stand inside the footage
  5. Editory transcribes your take, plans the cutaways, fetches the b-roll, writes the captions and assembles the cut. This is the slow part — a minute or two for a short video.

You’ll land on a review step. It flags any shot where the script names a real, specific subject and no footage matched it, and offers you a replacement. Accepting is one click. Skipping is fine too — there’s already a generic shot in place.

  6. Press Render final video. When it finishes you get the long-form cut plus any short clips, in the aspect ratios the template asked for.

Download them, or connect an Instagram account under Settings → Connections and publish straight from Editory.

Now that one video exists, the things that make the second one faster:

  • Set up a brand kit — logos, colours, fonts and caption styling, applied to every video from then on.
  • Mark your defaults. Every preset library has a default. Once they’re set, Auto Generate runs the whole chain without asking you anything.
  • Drive it from an AI client — if you live in Claude Code or Claude Desktop, you can do all of the above by asking.
